38.Passage Two
Reading is thought to be a kind of conversation between the reader and the text. The reader puts questions, as it were, to the text and gets answers. In the light of these he puts further questions, and so on.
For most of the time this conversation goes on below the level of consciousness. At times, however, we become aware of it. This is usually when we are running into difficulties, when a mismatch is occurring between expectations and meaning. When successful matching is being experienced, our questioning of the text continues at the unconscious level.
Different people converse with the text differently. Some stay very close to the words on the page; others take off imaginatively from the words, interpreting, criticizing, analyzing and examining. The former represents a kind of comprehension which is written in the text. The latter represents higher levels of comprehension. The balance between those is important, especially for advanced readers.
There is another conversation which from our point of view is equally important, and that is to do not with what is read but with how it is read. We call this a process conversation as opposed to a content conversation. It is concerned not with meaning but with the strategies we employ in reading. If we are an advanced reader, our ability to hold a process conversation with a text is usually pretty well developed. Not so our ability to hold a content
conversation. It is precisely this kind of conversation that is of importance when we are seeking to develop our reading to meet the new demands being placed upon us by studying at a higher level
According to the author, when will our reading become conscious() A.When the reader’s expectations match with what is said in the text B.When the reader has trouble understanding what the author says C.When the reader asks tough questions and gets proper answers D.When the reader understands a text with no difficulties

【精析】B当句子的主语由as well as, along with, together with等连接时,谓语动词应与前面的主语保持一致,所以本句的谓语动词应与Dr.

故选A

idea, information, message, order, problem, suggestion, thought, truth, evidence等 21.D

Every year, there are about 31,000 homicide deaths in children under 15. This number underestimates the true extent of the problem, as a significant proportion of deaths due to child maltreatment are incorrectly attributed to falls, burns and drowning.
【精析】B由第二段第六、七句…being ‘lazy’ …is good for overworked students or executives. Taking a rest can be particularly helpful to the athlete who is trying too hard or the doctor who’s simply working himself overtime too many evenings at the clinic.(懒惰对于超负荷工作学习的学生或者主管来说是有好处的。
You must speak so that they can hear you—loudly enough and clearly enough but without trying to shout or appearing to force yourself.
37.B[考点]推理判断题 B根据倒数第二段最后两句“Luck and chance play a part, but ‘you have to be prepared and have a strategy,' he says.‘Part of my strategy is being confident.'”
根据文章第二段第二、三句…we become aware of it. This is usually when we are running into difficulties, when a mismatch is occurring between expectations and meaning.
39.见解析Part-time Jobs In contemporary society, college students' taking part-time jobs has become a hot topic. It has a great influence on their life. I believe there are both benefits and drawbacks. Clearly, in addition to getting an income, college students taking part-time jobs may enjoy a more exciting lifestyle. as they can meet people from all walks of life and develop a sense of responsibility which can't be learned in the classroom. On the other hand, the negative effects of part-time jobs are also obvious. Students who take part-time jobs may spend less time focusing on study, and if they seek to excel in both the part-time jobs and study, the busy life they lead may put their health at risk. Besides, the society is much more complicated than they have expected, and they sometimes may be exposed to danger. In my opinion, college students ought to keep a balance between academic study and part-time jobs, and always bear in mind that a student's priority is to acquire knowledge at school.
